KUCHING: Sarawak is prioritising efforts to increase household income following recognition by the World Bank as a high-income region in 2023.
In stating this, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said various initiatives have and will be implemented in line with the development strategies outlined in the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
“Among them is to focus on education and skills. This aligns with our policy of talent development.
“This is also particularly important as we focus on the development of the digital economy, green economy, circular economy and technology-based economy,” he said in his 2024 Sarawak Day message.
Awang Tengah, who is also the International Trade, Industry and Investment Minister, said he hoped Sarawak will continue to prosper, be peaceful, and thrive.
“We also hope that the quality of life for the people can be enhanced. Let us work together to strengthen our unity and cooperation in order to solidify stability, peace, and harmony among our diverse society with different races, religious beliefs, cultures, and backgrounds,” he said.
He also called upon the continuous support to the government led by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to ensure that Sarawak continues to move forward.
“Let us collectively channel our efforts and thoughts to achieve the government’s vision and mission to develop Sarawak and enhance the wellbeing of its people.
“May Sarawak continue to progress, remain peaceful, and have its people live in harmony and prosperity. Once again, I wish everyone a Happy Sarawak Day 2024,” said Awang Tengah.
