BINTULU: Three men were left homeless after their wooden house at Kampung Ulu Nyalau here, was engulfed in a fire last night (July 21).
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the 8.32pm incident as the residents aged 22, 25 and 69, managed to evacuate to safety.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firefighters from Samalaju station was dispatched to the scene, about 20km away, after receiving an emergency call.
Upon arrival, they confirmed that the house and a parked Toyota Hilux were destroyed in the blaze.
Extinguishing works were performed using water sourced from a nearby fire hydrant and the flames were brought under control at 9.50pm.
Overhaul works followed suit to ensure that there was no risk of re-ignition before the operation ended at 10.20pm.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.
