KUCHING: Ten finalists will vie for top honours at the inaugural Sarawakfm Chart 10 Awards on July 27 at the P. Ramlee Auditorium, RTM Kuching.
Sarawakfm manager Noraini Ibrahim said the awards recognised the most popular songs among listeners based on the radio programme, which airs every Saturday at 10 am.
“This programme, produced by DJ Reeynaz Merpati, aims to promote Sarawakian music and introduce the competing singers to a wider audience,” she said during a press conference at RTM Kuching yesterday.
The finalists include six soloists: Danial Manshor with “Beku”, Sofuan Yusuf with “Berteman Sepi”, Meera Zada with “Milikmu”, Zah Amirul with “Mencari Mimpi”, Abang Hafidz with “Zon Kawan”, and Hasalizar with “Seloka Rindu”.
There is also a duet – Miey Sanisha and Saiful Bahri with “Cinta Duak Jiwo” – and three groups: Proxy Band with “Jenaka”, Ga’Rash with “Belaian Sukma”, and Hurricane with “Menatap Dalam Tangisan”.
The winner will take home RM5,000, with RM3,000 for the runner-up and RM2,000 for third place.
Special awards for best vocal, best performance, and consolation will each carry a RM1,000 prize.
“All winners will receive trophies and certificates. The Family Man and Nurafizah Busman will perform as special guests,” Noraini added.
The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on Sarawakfm radio and Facebook.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan is expected to attend.
Also present at the press conference were Programme Producer Zuriana Kedri (DJ Reenaz Merpati) and Director of AirAsia Berhad Relations, Hamdan Mohamad.
