BINTULU: SMK Kidurong emerged as the champion in the School Consumer Club Interactive Challenge (CIP-KPS) Northern Zone level competition on Wednesday (July 24).
The first runner-up and third place were won by SMK Kubong, Limbang, and Chung Hua Middle School, Miri, respectively.
The champion took home a cash prize of RM700 along with a trophy and a certificate of participation. The first runner-up received a cash prize of RM500, a trophy, and a certificate of participation, while the third-place winner received a cash prize of RM300, a trophy, and a certificate of participation.
The prizes were presented by the head of the Bintulu Branch, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), Al Redzamani Abdul Razak.
The champion, first runner-up, and third-place winner will represent the Northern Zone in the CIP-KPS state-level competition in August.
A total of eight secondary schools from Bintulu, Miri and Limbang participated in the competition.
Earlier, Al Redzamani said CIP-KPS is an effective interactive learning platform that shapes a generation of young consumers, especially at the school level, to become knowledgeable, wise and responsible consumers.
According to him, the programme is one of KPDN’s initiatives to drive the School Consumer Initiative by educating and raising awareness about consumer rights among students through various exciting programs that have been planned.
“Consumers, especially the younger generation, should understand their rights and play their respective roles and responsibilities in combating consumer fraud and business misconduct.
“On behalf of the ministry, we fully support the efforts and strategic cooperation with the Ministry of Education Malaysia in raising awareness of consumer rights and are committed to fostering a mature and rational consumer culture.”
