SERIAN: The Serian District Education Office has proposed the construction of a new building for SK Mubok Berawan, equipped with essential facilities and a multi-story block for classrooms and administrative offices.
Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, Datuk Martin Ben said the estimated cost for the project ranges from RM5 million to RM10 million.
“This project will fall under the RM200 million allocation provided by the federal and state governments for the construction and upgrading of dilapidated schools across Sarawak,” he said.
Apart from that, RM60,000 has been allocated since 2023 for the digitalisation programme of SK Mubok Berawan.
“The expenditure is for the repairing of the school building and addressing the shortage of facilities.
“This includes upgrading the electrical supply system, upgrading the 2025 School Transformation Programme (TS25) room, installing air conditioning, purchasing three smart TV sets, 13 laptops, and acquiring a high-speed Starlink internet package.”
He said this during the launch ceremony of the Digitalisation Programme: e-SMARTskMB Programme at SK Mubok Berawan, recently.
Martin, who is also the Kedup assemblyman, said he will provide an annual allocation of RM3,000 to the school to cover the charges for the subscribed Starlink package.
“I hopes that this programme will expose or enhance digital technology proficiency among students, even in rural areas.”
At the same event, he also announced an allocation of RM10,000 to the Parent-Teacher Association of SK Mubok Berawan to assist the school in conducting activities.
