KUCHING: Lodge National Primary School, in collaboration with Hope Place Kuching, demonstrated its commitment to community service through its annual charity drive, encouraging students aged seven to 12 to donate to those in need.

“Among the items collected are 16 packs of rice, dry noodles, biscuits, cooking oil, canned food and other miscellaneous items. Some students even brought preloved toys for the charity drive.

“It is very encouraging to see children at a very young age learn about caring and love, not only towards their family and friends, but also to everyone around them,” said operations manager of Hope Place, Yong Tiong Yieng, who received the contribution on behalf of the organisation.

The contributions were presented by the principal of primary and kindergarten, Prisca Chambers, alongside director at Lodge Group of Schools, Su Hiong Ai.

“This year’s response from the students was overwhelming. It is always the school’s aim to teach students to do good in their community and to learn about empathy.

“Every year, students at Lodge National will have a chance to donate dry food items in their annual Charity Week to aid NGOs like Hope Place, Old Folks Home and orphanages,” said Prisca.
