LUNDU: The Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) will be implemented in Kampung Sileng Dayak and Kampung Sileng Melayu here.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said he agreed to the two areas being expanded at the request of Tanjong Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan.

“Azizul has proposed this development, and I approved it. God willing, we will help the community,” he said when officiating at the 2024 Batang Kayan Festival and Regatta at Lundu Waterfront today (July 26).

Earliar, Azizul said Kampung Sileng, including Kampung Sileng Dayak, had become increasingly crowded due to the growth of family members and other factors.

“I sincerely hope that the government can consider implementing a SPK for the Sileng Dayak and Sileng Melayu areas and its surroundings.

“I am confident that with the implementation of these development projects, Lundu will become a popular eco-tourism destination and will contribute to local economic growth,” he said.

He also urged everyone including those in Lundu to support the government’s effort in developing Lundu into a premier eco-tourism destination.
