SIBU: Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat and Lanang MP, Alice Lau, along with her service centre team, recently visited the Sibu Branch of the Sarawak State Development Office (SDO).

In a statement, the visit was part of their ongoing working engagements.

“During the visit, Alice Lau and her team were briefed on the department’s operations and had comprehensive discussions about the Projek Mesra Rakyat (PMR) under the Lanang parliamentary allocation,” it said.

The main goal was to understand the overall functioning of the project.

“In 2023, the Projek Mesra Rakyat, financed through the Lanang parliamentary allocation, assisted 99 longhouse JKKKs, 7 secondary schools, and 15 primary schools,” it added.

Out of the 99 projects for longhouse JKKKs, 97 were aimed at supplying building materials or electrical items, while two focused on infrastructure upgrades and repairs.

Additionally, 23 projects at 22 primary and secondary schools involved the provision of ICT tools to enhance teaching and learning.
