DALAT: The 2024 Sarawak Sports Council (MSS) Mukah Athletics Championship serves as a platform to nurture well-rounded students, helping them build character and develop self-discipline, said Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

The Minister of Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development said discipline is the key to success for athletes at any level.

“Discipline applies not only to sports but also practised in daily life, whether as a student, a child, or a citizen, because our children are the primary assets for the future of our beloved state and country,” she said at the opening ceremony of the 2024 MSS Mukah Athletics Championship at Dalat Stadium here yesterday (July 31).

The Dalat assemblywoman also said sports and games are not only for mainstream students but also for children in the Special Education Integration Programme (PPKI).

“Many special needs children from Sarawak have achieved victories both nationally and internationally.

“The Sarawak Para-SUKMA contingent will be aiming for their 14th championship title this coming September 2024,” she added.
