KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has received a courtesy visit from the Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
According to Mohamad, the aim of the visit was to extend an invitation to Abang Johari to attend the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agro Tourism Exhibition (MAHA) 2024 exhibition at the Malaysian Agriculture Exposition Park (MAEPS) in Serdang, Selangor.
“Today, my delegation and I invited the Sarawak Premier to attend MAHA, which will be held from September 11 to 22 and officiated by the Prime Minister, and the Premier has agreed to attend the event,” he said.
He said this when met by reporters after the courtesy visit at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today (August 1).
He also said that MAHA 2024 will be preceded by the ‘Road to MAHA’ programme, which will start from August 8 to 11, beginning in Brunei Darussalam, then moving to Lawas, and continuing to Maragang, Sabah.
“MAHA 2024 will focus on high-tech agriculture at the global level, with a target participation of more than 29 countries.
“This is part of the country’s efforts to build resilience in the food security sector, as well as to attract young people to consider agriculture as a primary source of income,” he added.
