MASwings to continue flying Sarawak routes until 2024

A detailed list of sectors operated by MASwings under the Public Service Obligation (PSO) Agreement on a weekly frequency.

KUCHING:  MASwings is given the mandate to continue its operations in Sabah and Sarawak effective Jan 1 this year to Dec 21, 2024.

The new Public Service Obligation (PSO) Agreement for Rural Air Services (RAS) was officially signed between MASwings Sdn Bhd and the federal government represented by the Transport Ministry in Putrajaya recently, a statement issued by MASwings said yesterday.

Under the agreement, MASwings will continue to operate with 39 inclusive of three new routes in Sabah, Sarawak and FT Labuan using the existing 10 ATR 72-500 and 06 DHC6-400 Viking aircrafts.

The newly introduced routes are Kuching to Limbang under MASwings ATR; whereas Bario to Long Seridan and Bario to Long Lellang have been added as new routes under MASwings Viking network effective Jan this year.

The other remaining routes under MASwings ATR services are from Kota Kinabalu to Mulu, Lahad Datu and Labuan; from Kuching to Mulu; from Miri to Bintulu, Limbang, Mulu, Sibu and Labuan; as well as Bintulu to Sibu and Sandakan to Tawau.

MASwings will also continue its operations into Layang-Layang on charter services and Tawau to Tarakan route on commercial.

As for MASwings Viking operations, the airline will continue to provide services from Miri to Ba’kalalan, Bario, Lawas, Long Lellang, Long Akah, Long Seridan, Long Banga and Marudi; from Marudi to Bario, Long Lellang, Long Akah, Long Seridan and Long Banga; from Mukah to Miri, Bintulu, Kuching and Sibu; from Kota Kinabalu to Limbang, Lawas and Kudat; from Lawas to Limbang and Ba’kalalan as well as from Bario to Ba’kalalan; Kuching to Tanjung Manis and Kudat to Sandakan.

It has also been decided that MASwings ATR flights will be on Economy Class only with a total of 68 seats on each flight hence no more Business Class available for sale.
