MIRI: Sarawak Skills raised RM9,160 through a charity run held here last Saturday (Aug 3).
The 5km run saw the participation of 320 individuals from Miri, Mukah, Betong, Kuching, Bintulu, and even neighbouring Brunei.
The event was officiated by Miri MP Chiew Choon Man, Deputy Mayor Ariffin Mohamad, representing Mayor Adam Yii and Sarawak Skills Executive Director Hallman Sabri.
Three selected charities namely the Association of People with Physical Disabilities Miri, Pusat Jagaan Anak Kami and Miri Home for the Aged each received RM2,000.
An additional RM3,000 was donated to the ‘Nemuai’ programme as part of the Kembara 30 Tahun Sarawak Skills initiative, which will be distributed to three selected longhouses.The
donations were presented by Hallman who said the charity run aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle and commemorate Sarawak Skills’ 30th anniversary.
“The organisation of such an event demonstrates Sarawak Skills’ commitment to supporting and alleviating the burdens of needy communities,” he said.
