KUCHING: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof on Sunday reunited with his former primary school headmistress, Sister Ignatia Soon, after so many attempts to arrange a meeting.

The emotional reunion took place at the Convent of Mary Immaculate Padungan, near St Peter’s Catholic Church.

“I was both happy and touched to finally meet my former headmistress after such a long time,” Fadillah said in a Facebook post.

“The 30-minute meeting with Sister Ignatia, who was my headmistress at SK St Mary, Sibu, from 1969 to 1974, was very meaningful to me.”

The Petra Jaya MP said Ignatia, now 84, served as the principal of SK St Mary from 1968 until her retirement in 1995.

She subsequently worked at the church here.

“I greatly appreciate the contributions of all my former principals and teachers,” Fadillah added.

“Thank you for all the guidance and knowledge you have given me.”

Fadillah was accompanied by his wife, Datin Seri Ruziah Tahir, during the meeting.
