KUCHING: Expanding energy cooperation between Sarawak and the United States (US) was the focus of a meeting between Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni and a US Department of Energy delegation recently.
The US delegation, led by Assistant Secretary, Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management Brad Crabtree, explored potential collaborations with Sarawak in areas such as carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS), fossil energy, green hydrogen, methane reduction, and critical minerals.
“This partnership is crucial for Sarawak’s transition to a low-carbon economy, and we are excited to work closely with the US to explore innovative solutions and develop a sustainable energy future for Sarawak,” Dr Hazland said in a statement.
Also present were Cameron Millard, Economic Officer, US Embassy Kuala Lumpur, Adam Wong, Senior International Advisor, Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management, US Department of Energy, US Department of Energy and Mohan Gurusamy, Commercial Specialist, US Embassy Kuala Lumpur.
