KABONG: Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri reminded residents of Kampung Perpat to be careful of falling victim to fraud by irresponsible parties.

He informed the residents that payment for wiring in the house, installation of meters and deposits for connection of electricity supply could only be done at the Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) office or counter.

“For example, there are parties who do wiring in the house, then ask for cash payment from the applicant.

“Remember, there is no cash payment. On the contrary, payment must be made through a bill, which for meter installation and deposit payment can only be done at the SEB office,” he said adding that a contractor should not do something irresponsible.

He stressed this after he had personally inspected the implementation of the Additional or Late Applicant Fund (ALAF) scheme which is currently being implemented in the Kampung Hulu Perpat here yesterday.

Regarding the ALAF project that is being implemented, Mohamad stated that the dream of all Kampung Perpat residents to have a 24-hour electricity supply has now come true.

“Focusing on providing a 24-hour electricity supply to rural communities is indeed my main commitment.

“It doesn’t matter whether it’s a village or a longhouse. It means that all applications will be examined for consideration, and will be forwarded to the government.

“For example, in Kampung Perpat, after going through several stages, the installation of electric poles and cables is now actively being carried out,” he said.

Mohamad informed that the ALAF project that is currently being implemented throughout the Kalaka constituency is progressing smoothly.

“This is important so that the people can enjoy the basic facilities that are much needed without depending on the use of expensive generators that burden the people,” he added.

Among those present were Saratok District councilor Saee Ason as well as community leaders.
