In the days of my youth, to the local school I did earnestly walk
Of the teacher’s guidance, I was intent on seeking, and won’t balk
For the rewards of insight, which will be gladdening, without any doubt
I was then still too young to start, soon I would find out
To me with a smile, the teacher did listen, and acted gently
Son, you can come back next year, echoed his words, deep within me
As I walked back home, with tears in mine eyes, putting me in a bind
So began my search for knowledge, of the formal kind
Now as I look back to that early, and misty morning
I am glad that I’ve taken those first steps, on the road to learning
Now I have lost count of how many steps, I have now taken
On the many mileage, I have since trodden
This journey in search of knowledge, and enlightenment
Is solemnly vested upon us, in this sojourn of predicament
So gladly sacrifice yourself at this Altar of Enchantment
For true knowledge comes, from the Divine Fountain
