MUKAH: The Malaysian Global Taekwondo Federation (MGTF) Sarawak team brought home four gold, one silver and three bronze medals from the Sabree Salleh Open and Invitational Taekwondo Championship held at Dewan D’Cerana, Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK), recently.
Mukah Tunas Taekwondo Club head coach Zaidi Morshidi said they only sent eight participants, two officials, and one coach to the championship.
“I did not expect to bring back four gold medals considering we only sent eight participants.
“Alhamdulillah, with this achievement, it proves that they can compete with other participants,” he said.
He explained that this championship is the third after the championships in Ipoh and Sibu.
Meanwhile, Zaidi also expressed his gratitude to Press Metal Sarawak for their contribution of T-shirts, taekwondo uniforms, and tracksuits to their team.
He said the contributions motivated the participants to do their best during the championship.
Regarding the achievements, he mentioned that in the Pattern category, the gold medals were won by Mohamad Helfy Danish Mohamad Zamri and Elizabeth Sandra Petrus, while silver was won by Rifqi Rosidi.
In the Sparring category, the gold medals were won by Mohamad Amir Haziq Hamdan and Mohamad Helfy Danish Mohamad Zamri.
Meanwhile, the bronze medals were won by Rifa Rosidi, Rifqi Rosidi, and Muhammad Allif Aidit Mohd Zaidi Adrus.
Earlier, a total of 850 participants from all over Malaysia took part in this championship.
