SIBU: Around 500 participants took part in the multicultural cultural and arts parade in Sibu last night (August 9), marking the start of the Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF) 2024.

The parade featured five contingents from various groups, including non-governmental organisations (NGOs), clan associations, private sectors and government agencies.

Leading the parade was the Sibu Municipal Council (MPS) chairman Clarence Ting Ing Horh, alongside councillor Michelle Law Wan Ling, who serves as the organising chairperson of BCF 2024, as well as committee members representing the Malay, Melanau, Dayak and Chinese pavilions.

The parade began at the BCF gateway located at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang Phase I, wound through the town, and concluded at the starting point.

The Borneo Cultural Festival runs from 8 to 17 August, coinciding with the Sibu Tradex Exhibition and Trade Expo at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang Phase II.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian officially opened BCF 2024 at the event last night.
