KUCHING: World class technology will be in play to keep everyone posted as the XXI Malaysian Games (SUKMA) unfolds here.
In stating this Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah hailed the state-of-the-art SUKMA Main Media Centre located at the Pandalela Rinong Aquatic Centre here.
According to him, the centre is equipped with technology that has never been available in all the previous SUKMA.
“I was told that the technology is the most advanced used in the Olympic Games. With what that has been equipped here, we can see that technology has brought our preparation to a higher level,” he said during a press conference after officiating the SUKMA Sarawak 2024 Main Media Centre here today.
Abdul Karim said with the equipment here, it is hoped that it will be able to provide an opportunity for all the people, especially in Malaysia, to follow developments throughout SUKMA 2024.
“With the sophistication of the equipment available, and the SUKMA application that was launched yesterday (Friday), whether it’s athletes or ordinary people, they can see the number of gold, results, where the tournament takes place, the time, where on their mobile phones.
“We can see that changes in technology can bring our preparations to a higher level. It is hoped that these preparations will not have any hiccups,” he said.
On another matter, he assured that the preparation for SUKMA this time includes a contingency plan planned in case any power outage were to happen.
“We cannot rule out the possibility of a power outage. Therefore, we have a team of technicians ready to prevent or fix the issue,” he said.
