KUCHING: Sarawak is set for the official opening ceremony of the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma) Sarawak 2024.

A rehearsal for the ceremony held yesterday evening (Aug 12) at the Sarawak Stadium proceeded smoothly.

The rehearsal, which began around 5.40 pm, was attended by Deputy State Secretary Datuk Hii Chang Kee, who is also the Sukma Sarawak 2024 chief executive officer.

A full rehearsal is planned for this coming Thursday to ensure the smooth running of the opening ceremony.

The event will showcase the unique culture and identity of Sarawak, aligning with the theme of this year’s Sukma, ‘Matlamat Perpaduan Membara’.

A total of 1,800 participants, including various association members, students from public and private higher education institutions, as well as school students, will be involved in the ceremony.

It is understood that the participants have been training since April with the assistance of 44 instructors.

Meanwhile, Head of State Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar will officiate at the opening ceremony on Saturday.
