KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan led a Sarawak government delegation on a working visit to HQ Plantations’ Beerburrum Forest Plantation in Queensland, Australia, recently.
Forest Department Sarawak (FDS) said the delegation toured the plantation to study community engagement, sustainable forestry, innovative management, and biodiversity conservation.
“HQ Plantations is a leading Australian forestry company managing 300,000 hectares of plantation forests in Queensland,” said FDS in a statement.
“They are known for their commitment to sustainable forestry and innovative practices, setting industry standards.”
Beerburrum Forest Plantation exemplifies HQ Plantations’ balance of commercial forestry and environmental stewardship.
“The visit highlighted the importance of sustainable forestry and community engagement, especially with indigenous communities,” it added.
Also present were advisor to the Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment Datuk Seri Mohd Naroden Majais, State Attorney-General Datuk Saferi Ali, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development Datuk Abdullah Julaihi, and FDS director Datuk Hamden Mohammad.
