LUNDU: In the second round of the women’s beach volleyball preliminary stage, Sarawak teams showcased their strength with impressive victories.
The winning match took place at Union YES Retreat & Training Centre here on Sunday reflect both state team strong presence in the competition and advancing confidently into the next stage.
In a gripping match held on a rainy day, the Sarawak B team, comprising Eileen Tiang Qin Yan and Chong Yu En, faced off against Sabah A featuring Berbara Ben Benjamin and Lievieona Kasim.
Despite a setback in the first set, where they lost 14-21, the duo made an impressive comeback. They rallied to win the second set 21-17 and dominated the final set 15-11, clinching a hard-fought 2-1 victory.
Meanwhile, the Sarawak A team, featuring Alice Achoi and Stacy Usun Yesayah, demonstrated their skills with a commanding win over Kelantan A comprising Nur Sara Qadeja Kamarozaman and Fatin Nurafiqah Mohd Said.
The Sarawak A team secured a straight-set victory, taking the first set 21-19 and overpowering their opponents in the second set 21-9, resulting in a 2-0 win.
Both teams will continue to compete in the third round on Monday, August 19, where Sarawak B will face Pahang, and Sarawak A will go up against Selangor B.
