KUCHING: A record turnout of over 10,000 people braved the rain to take part in the Mayor’s Walk 2024 here Sunday.

An ecstatic Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng expressed his heartfelt gratitude for their unwavering support.

Visibly moved by the community spirit of the participants, he said they waded through the rain, with their children, family or friends, umbrellas in hand.

As a mayor, this is a push for me to do better with the people’s support,” he said, adding that without the residents’ trust and support the city council would not fare well.

“And I deeply appreciate this kind of confidence they have in us.

“As a mayor, I just want to do the right thing for the people

“Push aside all the petty things because what we are doing now is for the next generation. The spirit must continue, the unity must be there, the harmony must be there. That is how the city can move forward,” he said.
