SERIAN: The Sarawak artistic gymnastics team is setting its sights on securing a bronze medal at the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA XXI), with the gymnastics events set to commence on August 21.

Serian MP Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem expressed his confidence in the team’s talent and fighting spirit, stating that he believes Sarawak’s gymnasts have what it takes to bring home a bronze in the event.

He told the media this after officiating at the opening ceremony of the SUKMA XXI Serian Division Carnival, held at Serian Convention Centre on Saturday (Aug 17).

Sarawak’s Artistic Gymnastics Team manager Jacqueline George Paou highlighted the women’s team as a standout contender, noting that the athletes have been working hard to meet their goal.

Podium training for the team will commence on August 20, just a day before the competition begins and runs until August 24.

Meanwhile, the carnival has successfully attracted 65 stalls offering a wide array of food and beverages, further energising the local community in anticipation of the sporting event.
