KUCHING: Sarawak fell short of winning a medal in the mixed team tournament at the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA).

Playing in Group C at the Sarawak Lawn Tennis Association (SLTA) court, Sarawak narrowly lost 2-3 to Selangor in the bronze medal match playoff today.

The visiting team scored in the women’s single, men’s double, and women’s double matches, each with a score 1-0.

Meanwhile, the home team scored in the men’s single and mixed double matches, both with scores of 1-0.

In the men’s single, Sarawak’s Ayden Shah Deen Heshaan defeated Selangor’s Devesh Sarawanan 3-6, 2-3 (Ret.)

In the mixed double, Hii Shieng Wee and Soo Hui Yii dominated with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in straight sets.

The mixed team tournament ends today, while the individual tournament starts from today (Aug 19) till Aug 22.
