MIRI: Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin extended his support and encouragement to the fencers earlier today (Aug 19) at the Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club here.
His visit comes as the Sarawak team prepares to compete in the upcoming fencing events, scheduled from Aug 19 to 23.
Accompanying the minister were Chong Hong Li, a Sarawakian fencer and Southeast Asian Games medalist, and Rusni Abi Hassan, the president of the Malaysian Fencing Federation (MFF).
The five-day competition will see 12 gold medals up for grabs.
The event is open to the public, with free entry for those who wish to cheer on Sarawak’s athletes as they vie for top honours.
Lee expressed confidence in their abilities and urged the public to come support the team.
“Your hard work and dedication have brought you this far, and I believe you have the potential to bring home the gold,” he said to the Sarawak fencers.
