KUCHING: Sarawak’s long wait for a medal in cycling finally ended after Aimy Nazurah Rais clinched silver in the BMX race at the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma).

She recorded a time of 43 seconds and 944 milliseconds, trailing 1 second and 459 milliseconds behind the first-place finisher.

Nur Adriana Sofea Abdul Hakim from Negeri Sembilan won gold with a time of 42 seconds and 485 milliseconds.

The bronze medal was secured by Farisha Nur Umairah Zairi from Sabah, who recorded a time of 44 seconds and 761 milliseconds.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Luthfil Hasief Freddie missed out on a medal, finishing fourth with a time of 37 seconds and 64 milliseconds, in the men’s event.

Terengganu once again dominated the cycling event, winning gold and bronze through Amer Akbar Anuar and Wan Muhammad Izzat Wan Mohd Baihaki, respectively, while Darwish Putra Muhd Sanusi from Kedah took the silver medal.
