KUCHING: The Sarawak women’s and men’s tenpin bowling teams clinched bronze medals at the 21st Malaysian Games (SUKMA) team category at the Megalanes Batu Kawa on Aug 19.

In the men’s category, the team of Eldred Yek Zhen Kho (1095), Cornelius Aldhelm Sajat (1142), Ethan Damien Chen Ming Goh (1240), Muhammad Ihsan Fikri Suffian (1076), and Fan Yew Tsen (1275) delivered a total score of 5,828 points.

Despite their strong showing, they fell just 87 points short of the gold, which was claimed by the Penang state team. Johor secured the silver medal with a total of 5,907 points.

The women’s team, featuring Lavinia Jia Jhe Kho (1189), Claudia Kumang Jakson (1092), Nur Hazirah Ramli (1115), Asya Dania Azree (1041), and Dayang Yumi Azreen Bt Abang Azman (1025), accumulated a total of 5,462 points.

They missed the top spot by 136 points, as Selangor took the gold, while Sabah came in second with 5,552 points.

The tenpin bowling competition will conclude on Aug 20, with the final event, the masters category, set to begin in the morning.
