MUKAH: An elderly woman was killed in a hit-and-run along KM85 Sibu-Mukah Road yesterday morning.
Sati Kumpan, 87, from Rh Banyang, Mile 55 ½ Sungai Sebaya Selangua, died at the scene due to severe head and body injuries.
Mukah District Police chief, DSP Jimmy Panyau, who confirmed the case said the victim was on her way home from a nearby garden when the accident happened at around 11.00am.
He said the victim’s body was taken to Mukah Hospital and the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act, 1987.
Jimmy urged members of the public who have witnessed or have information regarding the accident to contact Selangau or Mukah Police Station.
