KUCHING: The Sarawak petanque squad picked up their fourth gold medal at the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma), defeating Perak in the mixed doubles category.
Akhtar Shauqi Aini Mohd Dom and Nur Durratul Sahira Yazit defeated Perak’s Mohamad Yusman Haizad Mohamad Yusof and Nur Zafirah Zafri with a score of 13-9.
The final was played at the Arena Petanque Santubong here.
Sarawak’s success continued as Ain Afzan Aisyah Ezlan and Sharifah Daniamalyana Wan Deros secured a silver, facing Perak in the final of the women’s doubles category.
Perak was represented by Carmila Nahirah Mohd Noor and Nurshafinaz Mohd Nor Hishyam.
The Sarawak squad, coached by Mohamad Ahir Binar and Wan Deros Wan Badhi, will continue striving to achieve success in the six upcoming categories to be contested.
