MIRI: Sarawak won the bronze medal in the Optimist team event on the third day of the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) sailing competition  which began on Wednesday (Aug 21).

The team event at the Marina Bay features a round-robin format with seven competing teams, namely Melaka, Kedah, Perak, Terengganu, Sabah, Pahang, and Sarawak.

Sarawak finished third, while Sabah took the silver and Kedah the gold.

In the men’s International 420 class, Sarawak, which were leading on Tuesday (Aug 20), were overtaken by a Terengganu competitor and now hold second place with 12 points. Sarawak remain in first place in the women’s category with eight points.

In the International Laser 4 class, the Terengganu men’s team lead with 12 points, while the Sabah and Terengganu women are tied for first place with 14 points each.

For the International Laser 6 class, Sabah lead  the men’s category with 11 points, and Pahang are leading the women’s category with seven points.

In the International Laser 7 class, Selangor are in the lead with seven points, followed closely by Sarawak with 19 points.

In the RS One windsurfing event, the men’s category is led jointly by Terengganu and Kedah with 12 points each, while in the women’s category, Terengganu lead  with seven points, followed by Sarawak with 15 points.

In the Techno 293 windsurfing event, the Terengganu competitor leads the men’s category with seven points, with Sarawak in second place (18 points) while Sabah lead the women’s category (seven points).
