SIBU: Both of Sarawak’s women’s doubles badminton teams at the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) were unable to advance to the quarter-finals as they lost in the round of 16 today (Aug 22).

The first Sarawak pair, April Yee Tong and Nurin Izzah Qistina Norman, lost to the Federal Territory Amanda Yap Hwa Leng and Ong Xin Yee in straight sets.

The Federal Territory duo, ranked 3rd in SUKMA XXI, easily defeated the home pair with scores of 21-11 and 21-12.

Meanwhile, another Sarawak women’s doubles pair, Kashley Kho Tze Yin and Lee Zi Suen, met the same fate as they lost in straight sets to the Selangor pair.

The Selangor duo, ranked 2nd in SUKMA XXI, defeated Sarawak’s last hope, Kashley and Lee, with scores of 21-10 and 21-12, leaving Sarawak with no more representatives in the category.
