White Story: The ultimate collection for elegant brides
The most popular month for weddings is almost upon us. September 3 aligns with the start of the eighth month in this year’s Lunar calendar. The number eight is considered auspicious and is believed to bring good luck to joyful occasions, especially weddings. If you are planning to get married next year, you might need up to eight months to plan your wedding and check off your to-do list.
Malaysian designer Khoon Hooi (KH) offers innovative, unexpected takes on classic bridal gowns, and his White Story 2024 collection is the epitome of timeless elegance.
Drawing inspiration from the ethereal beauty of nature, the designs feature intricate lacework, delicate embroidery, and striking silhouettes that evoke a sense of romance and sophistication. Each gown is crafted to celebrate the individuality and grace of the modern bride, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary accents.
According to Khoon Hooi, the collection offers a line-up of modern gowns that cater to a wide range of aesthetics.
“Regardless of your style, there’s a perfect dress for you. We offer opulent ball gowns, chic mermaid silhouettes, fun party dresses, and traditional qipao. Tulle and lace remain the key fabrics throughout, complemented by luxe Duchess satin and taffeta. Embellishments such as sequins and feathers add fun and glamour.”
When asked about the price range, Khoon Hooi said, “It’s 10K and above if you want KH to specially design your gown. Made-to-measure pieces following the collection exactly will be an additional 20 per cent, with no surcharge if using our standard US sizing.”
He added that it typically takes 30-45 days to make a gown, while demi-couture requires 60-90 days.
