Firefighters capture the female crocodile that was spotted in the drain behind a house at Kampung Sungai Buluh.

SADONG JAYA: A five-foot-long female crocodile was captured after it was found wandering in a drain at Kampung Sungai Buluh here on Tuesday (Aug 27).

The presence of the reptile was spotted by a villager behind a house at around 3.55 pm and authorities were alerted for capture assistance.

Firefighters from Asajaya station were dispatched to the scene, about 19km away, after receiving a distress call.

Upon arrival, they confirmed the crocodile sighting in the drain and proceeded to catch it.

The team used ropes and adhesive tapes to capture the crocodile to ensure that it does not pose further danger to residents.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation at 4.55 pm.

The reptile was taken to their fire station and it was later handed over to the Sarawak Forestry Corporation for further action.
