BINTANGOR: The upgrade project for the RC (reinforced concrete) Pontoons Wharf here is set to begin this October and is expected to be completed by August next year.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin said the Sarawak government through the Sarawak Rivers Board has approved an allocation of RM3 million for the upgrade project.
He said the project would be tendered on August 30 and will take 10 months to complete.
“I hope that once the upgrade is completed, it will provide comfort and ensure the safety of the users,” he said during a working visit to the site on Tuesday (Aug 27).
Meanwhile, Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing expressed his appreciation for Lee’s support for the project.
“I hope the community here will appreciate the efforts of the Sarawak government in providing various facilities for their comfort and safety,” he added.
