MIRI: A 31-year-old man sustained injuries to his left leg following an incident involving a heptafluoropropane-type fire extinguisher at a house in Bandar Baru Permyjaya here.

The incident occurred when the victim was transferring the equipment from the front of his house to the kitchen at the back.

During the process, the fire extinguisher accidentally fell on his leg, causing the valve to break. This led to a small explosion as the gas leaked from the damaged equipment.

Lutong firefighters responded to an alert at 2.59 pm and rushed to the scene.

Upon their arrival, they found the damaged fire extinguisher and the victim already transported to Miri Hospital by his relatives for further treatment.

The firefighters quickly assessed the situation and moved the fire extinguisher onto the road in front of the victim’s house.

They allowed the gas to disperse safely from the tube, preventing further hazards.

In coordination with the equipment’s manufacturer, MUI LEE, the firefighters ensured the safe removal of the damaged tube from the scene.
