SIBU: Farley Riang Ria, an event dedicated to promoting physical health and well-being, kicked off today (Sept 1) at Farley Sibu in Jalan Salim here with an impressive turnout of 2,000 participants eager to engage in a variety of family-friendly activities.
Designed to cater to all ages, the event combines education, exercise, and entertainment, ensuring a holistic approach to health.
According to Farley human resources executive Sie Sing Ying, the event features a total of 16 specially designed activities that focus on both mental and physical health.
She highlighted that these activities range from engaging fun games to practical health-related exercises, making it a perfect day out for families, including children, adults, and seniors alike.
“Farley Riang Ria has seen a remarkable response from the community, with a total of 2,000 participants registered for the two main categories of fun walk and fun run.
“This overwhelming participation reflects the community’s growing interest in health and wellness, and their enthusiasm for events that bring families together in an enjoyable and educational environment.
“In addition to the fun walk and fun run, the event offers a variety of exciting activities, including games, Zumba, lucky draw, goodies bag, face painting, clown show and free health screening checkup,” she said.
Sie, who is also the organising chairperson, stressed these activities are designed not only to challenge physical endurance but also to foster mental agility and social interaction, creating a balanced and enriching experience for everyone involved.
As the event progresses, she said participants will have the opportunity to engage in these activities that promote healthy living while enjoying quality time with their loved ones.
Moreover, she pointed out that the diverse range of activities ensures that there is something for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level.
“Farley Riang Ria is more than just a day of fun – it is a step towards a healthier community, encouraging individuals to prioritise their well-being while making memories with family and friends,” Sie enthused.
Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee was in attendance to officiate at the event. Also present were Sibu Municipal Council chairman Cr Clarence Ting Ing Horth, Farley Group chairman Lau Siew Whye, Sibu District Police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, Ministry of Domestric Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Sibu branch chief Kelyn Bolhassan @ Haliward and political secretary to the Premier Joshua Ting Fu Ying.
Meanwhile, in the fun run male category, Belton Mosolon was the champion, followed by Jetris Foo and Ahmad Danish for the second and third positions, respectively.
For the female category, the three respective top winners were Luk Tek Bing, Yong Nee Ling and Kayren Kiung Zi Xin.
Each category top three winners received cash prize of RM500, RM300 and RM200.
Five consolation winners of both categories were also given cash RM100 each.
