PANAMA CITY: At least 10 people were killed and 17 injured after a truck crashed into a bar in the western Dominican Republic on Sunday morning, reported Xinhua, quoting local media reports.

The accident occurred around 3 am (0700 GMT) in the city of Las Yayas in the province of Azua, when a truck went out of control at high speed and crashed into a local bar, causing many casualties, according to local media reports.

Local traffic authorities said the death toll was likely to rise as some of the injured were in serious condition.

Authorities are investigating the cause, speculating that a truck malfunction or drunk driving may have caused the accident. – BERNAMA-XINHUA
