MUKAH: An elderly man has been reported missing after a collision between a speedboat and a riverboat in Batang Oya today (Sept 2).
The victim, identified as Dos Katek, 80, from Kampung Klid Dalat, is believed to have fallen into the river after colliding with the front of the speedboat.
The incident is thought to have occurred between Kampung Sua and Kampung Klid Oya.
Firefighters from Mukah station were dispatched to the scene, about 39km away, after receiving an emergency call at 9.42am.
The team, along with police, had to travel by river, a journey of approximately one hour and 30 minutes.
A search and rescue operation is currently underway to locate him, but he has yet to be found.
