KUCHING: Plaza Merdeka is set to illuminate the heart of Kuching with its vibrant Mid-Autumn Festival 2024 celebrations from Sept 7 to 17.
Kuching Association of Talent Development and Welfare of Special Needs (KATSN) said that this year’s event, which coincided with the Carpenter Street Mid-Autumn Festival, would be filled with cultural activities and family-friendly entertainment.
“The festivities will include nightly the Gifted Art Exhibitions, Children’s Colouring Contest, and live performances,” it said in a press statement yesterday.
On Sept 15, there will be a special Kids Colouring and Cheongsam Contest for mothers and daughters.
“Adding to the excitement will be the Lantern Competition scheduled on Sept 10. Participants stand a chance to win attractive prizes,” it said.
These events, organised in partnership with the Kuching Suriamas Dance and KATSN, promise fun and entertainment for all ages.
A highlight of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Gifted Art Exhibition, will showcase the remarkable talents of over 13 artists from KATSN.
“Their unique, limited-edition artworks and crafts will be available for purchase, with proceeds supporting the artists by promoting their work, enhancing their self-esteem, and encouraging self-reliance,” it said.
Meanwhile, a representative of Plaza Merdeka, Leovell Sam Avenido said it was thrilled host this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival and invited everyone to join this joyous celebration.
“This celebration is a wonderful opportunity to bring the community together, support local talent, and enjoy the rich cultural heritage of the Mid-Autumn Festival,” he said.
For young artists eager to showcase their creativity, a Colouring Contest will be held on September 14.
