BINTULU: Bintulu has achieved a 52.34 per cent 4G network coverage rate as of June this year.

Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) general manager Datuk Dr Anderson Tiong Ing Heng said this progress is crucial for supporting Sarawak’s future economy and plays a key role in implementing the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 and the Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint 2030.

“The integration of 4G and 5G into the telecommunications network is essential as a foundation for smart cities, more efficient industries, and improved public services,” he said.

He highlighted that these technological advancements will propel businesses, drive innovation in education and healthcare, and create new opportunities across both urban and rural areas.

He said this during the Sarawak telecommunications development engagement session with the community and agencies in the Bintulu Division at the Bintulu Port Authority Auditorium here today, which also saw the presence of Minister in the Premier’s Department Datuk Seri John Sikie Tayai, Deputy Minister for Telecommunication Datuk Liwan Lagang, Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, and Jepak assemblyman Iskandar Turkee.
