MATU: A house in Hardcore Poor Housing Programme (PPRT) was razed to the ground at Jalan Sungai Emas, Kampung Jemorang early this morning (Sept 4).
No injuries or casualties were reported in the 5 am fire. The exact number of residents affected has not been determined, as of the time of reporting.
Firefighters from Daro station were deployed to the scene, about 25km away, after receiving an emergency call.
Upon arrival, the firefighters found out that the house was beyond save, they immediately performed extinguishing works using water sourced from a ditch.
In their operation, the team faced difficulties to reach the scene as the road was narrow and the water source was limited.
Once the situation was deemed safe and there was no risk of reignition, the team concluded the operation at 5.50 am.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.
