KUCHING: A popular male artist and two local men have been ordered to maintain the peace for six months following a public altercation at Jalan Padungan on Aug 30.

Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan issued the order against Goh Hui Heong, 53, Mohd Hafiz Mohd Suip, 34, and Irman Daud, 42, after the facts of the case was presented in court.

All three men acknowledged the court’s decision.

According to the case facts, the incident occurred at around 2.10 pm when the trio was driving home. The dispute arose after a misunderstanding between Goh and Hafiz regarding their driving behavior.

Investigations found that the incident happened when Hafiz honked at Goh while signaling to enter Jalan Padungan.

In response, Goh cut off Hafiz and slowed his vehicle in an attempt to block Hafiz, forcing both cars to stop by the roadside.

Irman, who was present, tried to defuse the situation but Goh retaliated by spraying tear gas at him. Because of that, Irman punched Goh.

ASP Suziana Suleiman prosecuted the case, while all three men were unrepresented by counsel.
