LUNDU: A total of 18 individuals from the Tanjong Datu constituency received the Certificates of Recognition as Sarawak natives.

The symbolic presentation of the certificates was officiated by the Tanjong Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan, at the Lundu District office today.

In a brief speech at the ceremony, Azizul expressed hope that with the efforts of the Sarawak government through the provision of the Interpretation Ordinance (Amendment) 2022, it will help more Sarawakians, especially those involved in mixed marriages, to resolve issues related to property division, further education, and the inheritance of ancestral assets.

As of August 2024, a total of 109 applications have been submitted in the Lundu district, with 67 applications approved for both Opar and Tanjong Datu constituencies.

For the Tanjong Datu constituency alone, 21 applications have been approved.

Also present were the Lundu District Officer, Awang Yusup Awang Mostapha, Pemanca Benjamin Gersit Jais, and Pemanca Chin Kian Ming.
