KUCHING: A collaborative project to document the collective memories of Kenyalang Park has been met with enthusiasm by both the local community and the Mayor of Kuching South City Council (MBKS).

Led by Associate Professor Eric Chen and students from the Department of Architecture at Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan, the project involved in-depth interviews with community leaders, residents, business vendors, and school principals.

The resulting exhibition showcased drawings, photographs, and written narratives that captured the unique character and history of Kenyalang Park.

During a courtesy visit to MBKS Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng on Aug 28, the Taiwanese team presented their findings and discussed challenges faced by the local community.

Wee, who visited the exhibition on Sept 7, commended the students for their dedication and thorough research, emphasising that the project demonstrated their professional skills and offered opportunities for enhancing Kenyalang Park as a vibrant community aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
