KUCHING: The Sarawak Stars and Rhythms and Dance Festival (BITS 2024) brought to bear the artistic traits of the indigenous community.
National Department of Culture and Arts (JKKN) director genetal, Mohd Amran Mohd Haris Mohd is hopeful this festival will inspire the younger generation to continue creating and advocating for the arts and culture of their homeland.
He said it is the department’s commitment to advancing regional art in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industries, and Performing Arts.
“This festival is not only a stage for participants to showcase their artistic abilities but also a platform for us to appreciate and support their efforts in promoting cultural heritage,” he said.
His speech was delivered by Noor Seela Noor Sulaiman at the festival, which took place on Sept 8 here.
This festival featured two main events: the Malaysian Dance Festival and the Sarawak Stage Native Youth Star Competition.
He said that the champions of each category will represent Sarawak at the national level next year.
