SIBU: A Chinese Hanfu fashion show stole the limelight at the Mid-Autumn festival night organised by Farley Sibu and SUPP Dudong Branch Youth here on Sunday (Sept 8).

The event was officiated by Meradong assemblyman, Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing.

According to him, Hanfu, which traces back to the Han Dynasty in ancient China, represents the traditional clothing of the Chinese nation.

It carries thousands of years of history and culture and embodies the aesthetics and lifestyle of the ancient Chinese.

Hanfu, with its loose, comfortable and layered structure, embodies Confucian thoughts and etiquette concepts of ancient China, he said.

He explained each style reflects the characteristics of different historical periods and social classes.
Accessories such as headbands, belts and shoes are also indispensable parts of Hanfu.

These details, he said, not only enhance the overall beauty, but also contain rich cultural connotation.
According to Ding more and more young people as well as traditional culture enthusiasts are beginning to pay attention to and inherit the ancient costume.
