In KUCHING, PBH Asset Management Sdn Bhd’s (PBHAMSB) appointment to oversee the maintenance of the Sarawak Pan Borneo Highway (PBH) was conducted in compliance with government procurement procedures and fulfils the criteria outlined by the Ministry of Finance (MOF).
Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi emphasized that the company’s tenure spans three years from September 1, 2024, to August 31, 2027.
“The company holds registrations under the Government Work Procurement Certificate (SPKK) and the Contractor Registration Certificate (PPK) issued by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia.
“An examination of PBHAMSB, including a review through the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), confirms its registration and operations in Kuching, Sarawak. PBHAMSB has been actively engaged in the development of Sarawak PBH since the project’s inception in 2015.
“Given this extensive involvement, the company secured the maintenance responsibilities for the 829 km highway, alongside a commitment to vendor development and graduate training through the Protege program,” he stated in a release on Tuesday (Sept 10).
Nanta responded to Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen’s inquiry regarding PBHAMSB’s appointment for Sarawak’s PBH maintenance, expressing gratitude for Chong’s interest and shared acknowledgement of the importance of maintenance work in preserving infrastructure longevity and ensuring the safety and convenience of infrastructure users, particularly the people of Sarawak.
“The construction of Sarawak PBH, which commenced in 2015, is nearing completion. To uphold seamless service provision and ensure the safety and comfort of road users, the MOF, in a letter dated September 8, 2022, sanctioned PBHAMSB’s maintenance appointment for the Sarawak PBH for three years.
“This contract is a provisional measure aimed at safeguarding the ongoing maintenance of the finalized Sarawak PBH, enabling the people of Sarawak to benefit quickly from secure and convenient infrastructure,” he emphasised.
