BINTULU: The Similajau National Park (SNP) is shut to the public for the next six months. This decision, effective from Tuesday (Sept 10) until March 9, 2025, is crucial for maintaining the park’s sustainability and safety.

The Controller of National Parks and Nature Reserves explained, “We need this time to carry out essential maintenance work, ensuring the park remains a safe and sustainable environment.”

In a statement shared on the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) official Facebook page, it is stated that throughout the closure, the focus will be on enhancing the park’s infrastructure and facilities.

The Controller also expressed, “These improvements will result in a more enriching and enjoyable experience for visitors once the park reopens.”

“We regret any inconvenience this closure may cause and appreciate your understanding and support,” the statement continued. “Our dedication lies in preserving the park’s wildlife and natural beauty.”
