MIRI: The Sarawak Immigration Department arrested 10 foreigners including three women for various immigration offences on Tuesday (Sept 10).

In the operation dubbed ‘Ops Mahir’, the authorities were committed to enforce the law and travelled to a logging camp in the rural places of Long Lama, Ulu Baram.

Acting on public complaints and weeks-long intelligence, the Miri Immigration Enforcement Unit raided the camp at around 10 am while all of the workers were working.

“A total of 25 individuals were checked for their documentation and of these, 10 were taken into custody.

“The foreign detainees, comprising seven men and three women, were found to be overstaying, lacking valid travel documents and lacking valid permits to stay in Malaysia,” the department said.

All of them are being investigated under the Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

The public is encouraged to report any information regarding the presence of undocumented migrants in their areas through online channels or directly to the nearest Immigration Enforcement Office.
